I figured it out, sort of.  I isolated it to the desktop I was using.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the vSphere Client and now it works fine.  I have no clue what was wrong, but that made it work.

Thans André, If I open the settings/option panel, the snapshot gengeration is at "just power off", the autoprotect is at "disabled" state. Something mismatched in the config file? How can I correct it?
