Can't See Mapped Drives in Win XPSP2 16 bit Applications

I have a Win XP SP2 Client with a number of 16 bit applications.  I can no longer see my mapped drives (shared folders) from inside these 16 bit applications:-

Although I can see and access the mapped drives from 32 bit applications and My Computer.

I believe this problem has occured since I upgraded vmware tools from 6.5.0 to 8 (now at 8.8.2)  I have tried upgrading Workstation to 8.0.2 however this hasn't fixed the problem.

Any help would be appreiciated.
