you'll need to purge data... Follow the KB I posted above.  Also, you may think about reducing your DB retention policy.  From vCenter, Administration-vCenter Server Settings-Database Retention Policy....

Have you generated any logs to see if you can determine what is happening?  What about some kind of traffic analyzer to see if we can determine where the connection is failing. .

I don't think so. netstat -a on the Security Server would show you what IPs are connecting remotely. Running a login script and have it check the Volitile Environment variable for the connected VCS...

the number of CPUs you can assign to a guest is limited by the number of CPUs/Cores in the host. If you have a single 5520 (pbly dual-cores?) then you would only be able to create a 2-proc guest ....

If you look under the sessions tab of a pool it has a security server field.  If that field has something in it then there is a good bet they are a remote user connecting through the security server.

It sounds like your ESXi VM may be using binary translation. Can you post the vmware.log file for the destination ESXi VM from your physical host?
