Thanks for your time and response; I didn’t expect your response to be as was otherwise I would have advised of the whole story,
The whole part, it is not just Linux to Linux, they are actually to VMs, one is Linux to Linux and other one was Windows (to be deleted) to linux (New OS).
Also I didn’t mention that the OS are to be installed by third party team and hence they don’t want to have to reformat during installation, they would want it to be clean slate; yes I know it is sill same as they would have to reformat anyway during the installation to install Linux.
Also I forgot to mention that the Old Windows server had/has two disk partitions presented to it i.e. one is for OS 80GB and 20GB for data, now they want both to be present for the New Linux OS formatted and ready. Yes I am aware during the Linux installation they could do the formatting for both partitions but they don’t want to do that and also if the VM doesn’t boot via CD, it may boot to the old Windows server and may cause issues.
