As Matt says the pathing policy is really dictated by the Storage Vendor, however personally if your Vendor recommends it I would choose RR over Fixed as there is a greater chance for impoved throughput.
further currently there are only two true Multipathing policy plugins one for EMC and the other has just been released for Equillogic Storage
