ThinApp application with drivers automatically

Hello,

First of all, please excuse me for my approximate english.

I would like to propose a new option which could be integrated in the next version of VMware ThinApp. ThinApp allows portabilization of most applications, but not those which, for example, call on drivers.

I tried myself to circumvent the problem like some here by manually copying the drivers and the registry’s keys associated in a file which contained the portable application. Then, thanks to a file batch, I copied them in the suitable repertory (similar for the keys register) then I started again the virtual machine. After that, the application started without problem. Of course, I also envisaged a file batch which uninstalls all that, i.e. which removes the drivers and the keys of register created.

What I propose appears rather simple I think and could facilitate the life of many users of ThinApp. ThinApp is already a powerful tool, but I think that if such an option were integrated, it would only leave more complete and would mark there even more points towards its competitors.

Thus, I propose quite simply that ThinApp gives the opportunity of doing all that automatically. To know to create a copy of the drivers to be installed + registry’s keys (generally located in “CurrentControlSet”, etc.) and, why not, a batch file of installation + a file which would remove the files and registry’s keys copied.

I think sincerely that it is possible to make and that it would be really more for all the users.

Of course, I remain at your disposal if you wish more information and I expect your criticisms with pleasure (as well developers of the software as of the customers).

Cordially,
