I would think about VMware View Client with Local Mode or Citrix XenClient 2. You can try both. Both have the advantage that the hypervisor don't need so much resources as a full host OS with RAM for physical OS as well as virtual OS.

 

And has the SDD write performance significant changed? I know that reading is fast but I have heard a lot about writing delays as well as that a SSD lifetime isn't the same like with traditional harddrives.

So for me a notebook with 2 SSD harddrives seems to have a bit to much power but what is the application you need the notebooks with the virtualised OS for?

Graphics couldn't be because the VM will not have the power of the physical GPU.

 

I would try out some solutions before. Most products are available as a trial so that you try before buying.
