You can also use VMware coverter to copy it to another datastore and resize the drive int he proceess. Also do a google search on sdelete and storage vmotion. There is a way to zero out the blocks of the free space and storage vmotion that might reclaim the space.
I have to assume this is a full clone and not a linked clone, correct?
