Are there "new people" that are also involved in the QA for WS 8 asa well as Player. . There does seem to be increasing regressions with each "update".
In VMware's defense, they have acknowledged that WS8/P4 is a complete re-write, thus the dropping of 32-bit host processor support. In the long run I like that strategy, as the new engine does seem to work better, at least for me. If you've got a new development tree, though, such regressions are inevitable. You just have to believe things will be better in the long run. If it's a concern, there's always WS7/P3.
But to lose the release functionality between Player 4.0.1 and 4.0.2? Well, that's just carelessness, if you ask me.
