I'm sat in a vSphere 5: What's New course and have learned around the changes to HA that have made vCenter a more critical component of the infrastructure. In vSphere 4 it was only really relevant for the initial creation and configuration and I've always deployed vCenter as a virtual machine, accepting that HA was more than sufficient to meet vCenter availability targets, however it is being advised on this course that due to its integral role in HA vCenter should really be running in a protected configuration on physical servers.
Going down the physical server route has obvious implications around the cost of deployments and I wanted to get a feel for peoples opinions on physical vs virtual vCenter in vSphere 5.
