Vcenter how import works

Dear vmware users,

I am working on vmware project and I got some questions, in fact my customer use VMware vCenter Server 4.0.0 to manage ESX (also in release 4.0.0) servers on differents location (X and Y).

The question, it seems during the import of virtual machine between ESX (in the same data center the same ip range the same physical location)  the vCenter Server is used to copy the file ???

For example: If I import virtual machine from ESX1 to ESX2 on the X location the data are send on the vCenter on site Y on the small 8 Mbits sdsl connexion before be copied on the ESX2..

Do you know If this feature is normal or do I need to configure more things on the VMware architecture ?
