I currently run a machine with Windows 7 64bit O/S (16GB Ram), on top of this VMware Workstation 8.0.1. Inside VMware Workstation 8.0.1, Oracle Enterprise Linux 6u1 with Oracle 11.2.0.1 64bit Enterprise Edition.
When connecting from the host O/S (Windows 7 64bit) using TOAD and Putty I often have to reconnect as the connection is terminated. I managed to set a keep alive on Putty 0.60 so this works fine.
TOAD and other software on the other hand gives me the following error "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel" and one has to reconnect.
When using the same software on a laptop on the same physical network and connecting to the Oracle database on VMware Workstation 8.0.1 no timeouts occur. Also note that No keep alive settings required for Putty.
Timeouts only occur on the Host/VM communication (VMWare Workstation).
What should I do to resolve this when working on the same host as the VMware Workstation 8.0.1 session runs on and how can I ensure that network connectivity is fast and does not fail?
