I have setup VDR in our vCenter environment about a month ago. The backup destination is a FreeNAS computer. I try different things to get most reliable and fast solution to backup our VMs.
The problem raised when I see that VDR sent 200 report mails to me. I investigated the issue and found out that the Windows 2008 server, which has vCenter and VDR in it, has been reset automatically because of an update. After I saw the mails, I tried to connect VDR from vSphere, but It could not connect. I tried to reset the VDR OS, and It closed all of the backup jobs and reset successfully for 5 min. or more. After reset, it successfully connected to VDR and it backed up fine.
Is it a bug or something, and how can I prevent this problem? I already set windows to update manually, but do I need to reset VDR everytime after vcenter restarted?
